Go ahead and try. You can’t do it. It’s impossible to give and not get something in return. Oh, there will be times you extend love and don’t have it reciprocated; you might give sacrificially from limited funds-and still be short on cash; it is possible to help others get their lives in order only to be left completely alone in a moment of need. None of those things are likely, but they are possible.
But you still can’t come up empty-handed. It’s not possible. Because God, your Heavenly Father, sees your gifts of love and is pleased. Even if no one else thanks you, know that He will reward your kindness.
Maybe you won’t receive a return on your investment of service in this lifetime. You probably will, but maybe you won’t-but be assured that the very best rewards are eternal!
