I have been doing pageants since I was a little girl, and I always enjoyed them whether I won or lost. I just enjoyed being in pageantry. I knew then around my middle/high school I wanted to have my own pageant system.
It wasn’t until 2-3 years ago when I got back into pageants and started my daughters in pageants to and I knew in that moment all the feelings I had as a little girl came back the life and I knew then that I wanted to pursue my long life dream and start a pageant system of my own.
After realizing that I took time to think about what type of pageant system I wanted to start and I prayed on it. I then looked at myself and my daughters and we all have the same disability but it effects all of us differently. I remember what I had to go through as a child with a disability, being made fun of and talked about by my peers. My biggest challenges have been not letting doubters get to me and just continuing to believe in my dream and believe in my heavenly father. Even my own family members would make mean statements towards my disability and for being in Special Education classes. That’s when I knew I wanted to bring a Special needs pageant for children and adults with disabilities where they are accepted, welcomed and celebrated.
This system is designed to give them confidence and something to believe in. I have the believe that they to can do anything they want in life. We may not be able to do it the same as others but life is not impossible and we’re capable of making a difference as well. Our disabilities do not define who we are or what we can do. I live by this everyday by first being the first example to my kids, showing them that I can do anything I put my mind to and they can too.
My greatest accomplishments first and foremost is being a mother to my three beautiful daughters age 14, 9, and 6. and also graduating from The Medical of Institute of Kentucky in Administrative Assistant in October of 2020, and receiving my Honorary Trio Ph.d Degree.
My plans for the future is to continue to believe in my pageant system and help my contestant to believe and know they can be anything they want in life and to make sure my children know the same. just making sure I am elvating myself and moving forward and not looking back.
