Meet Sammi-Jean

What is your name and what do you do?

My name is Sammi-Jean , and I am a passionate advocate for inclusivity, particularly within the invisible illness community. I’m also currently the 2025 Ms. Revolutionary Purpose International, where I use my platform to amplify awareness about chronic illnesses like POTS syndrome and Cystic Fibrosis to help create spaces where everyone feels seen and supported. Beyond that, I’m pursuing a degree in Christian counseling and psychology, allowing me to better serve others through faith and understanding.

How long have you been doing what you do?

My advocacy journey started when I was diagnosed with POTS syndrome, which gave me firsthand experience with the challenges of living with an invisible illness. Over time, I transitioned from simply navigating my own health struggles to actively raising awareness and promoting inclusivity. My participation in Revolutionary Pageants has given me an even greater platform to share my message.

How do you balance your personal life and professional aspirations, particularly in a demanding career?

Balancing personal life and aspirations is all about intentionality. Living with a chronic condition has taught me the importance of prioritizing my well-being while staying committed to my goals. I schedule rest just as I schedule work, ensuring that I never pour from an empty cup. My optimism also plays a huge role in my day-to day life! I really love looking at the glass half full, you can always find a silver lining!

What have been some of your biggest accomplishments?

One of my proudest accomplishments is using my platform to promote inclusivity in spaces that may not always consider those with invisible illnesses. Competing in Revolutionary Pageants has been a milestone, allowing me to merge my advocacy with my love for community engagement. So far I have assisted and guided over 73 women and men in finding proper resources and specialists in their local areas to receive treatments that would benefit their chronic health conditions!  Another major accomplishment is pursuing my degree in Christian counseling and psychology—I’m excited to equip myself with the knowledge to support others more effectively.

What have been some of your biggest challenges, and how did you overcome them?

Living with POTS syndrome has presented many challenges, from physical limitations to societal misunderstandings about invisible illnesses. At times, it felt like my condition would hold me back from pursuing my dreams. However, I’ve learned to advocate for myself, set boundaries, and embrace alternative ways of achieving my goals. My faith has been my anchor, reminding me that my struggles do not define me—rather, they empower me to help others.

Can you share an experience where you witnessed the power of sisterhood or community among women?

During my time in Revolutionary Pageants, I’ve been surrounded by an incredible community of women who uplift and support each other. Pageantry is often perceived as competitive, but the reality is that it fosters deep friendships and a sisterhood rooted in encouragement. Whether it’s lending a dress, offering words of encouragement, or celebrating each other’s achievements, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it is when women stand together.

How has mentorship played a role in your personal and professional development?

Mentorship has been instrumental in my journey. From pageant mentors who have guided me through competition to faith leaders who have helped me grow spiritually, I have been blessed with incredible support. Their wisdom has taught me resilience, confidence, and the importance of paying it forward by mentoring others.

What role do you think social media plays in promoting or hindering women’s empowerment?

Social media is a double-edged sword. It provides an incredible platform for sharing stories, advocating for important causes, and connecting with like-minded individuals. However, it also fosters unrealistic beauty standards and can be a breeding ground for negativity. I choose to use social media as a tool for empowerment—spreading awareness, uplifting others, and being transparent about both victories and struggles.

How important is self-care, and what practices do you adopt to prioritize your well-being?

Self-care is essential, especially when managing a chronic illness. I prioritize practices that nourish both my body and soul, like gentle exercise, proper hydration, small balanced meals, and mindful rest. Spiritually, I lean into prayer and devotion to keep my heart centered. Self-care isn’t just about pampering—it’s about making choices that sustain your well-being long-term.

What legacy do you hope to leave for future generations of women?

I want to leave a legacy of resilience, faith, and inclusivity. I hope that through my advocacy, women—especially those with invisible illnesses—feel empowered to embrace their worth and pursue their dreams without limitations. If my journey can inspire just one person to keep pushing forward despite their challenges, then I have succeeded.

Are there any words of encouragement you would like to give?

You are stronger than you think, and your challenges do not define you—they refine you. Whatever obstacles stand in your way, trust that you are capable of overcoming them. Lean into your faith, surround yourself with a supportive community, and never be afraid to use your voice. The world needs your light!
